SILVER BIN RECYCLING

Common items that will contaminate your silver bin are:

  • Plastic food trays and punnets
  • Food waste
  • Bottle tops and lids
  • Plastic bags and cling film
  • Shredded paper
  • Foil
  • Food and drink cartons 
  • Pet food pouches
  • Pet bedding
  • Nappies
  • Textiles

GLASS
Glass is 100% recyclable and can be endlessly reprocessed with no loss of quality. While glass can’t recycled through the regular kerbside waste collection service, NKDC provide several local bottle banks. > List of local bottle banks

PLASTIC BOTTLE TOPS, JAR LIDS & ALUMINIUM FOOD TRAYS
Plastic bottle tops can’t be recycled through your usual kerbside collection but can be taken to your local household recycling centre. WH&T Going Green are currently looking for volunteers to collect these locally and drop off at the recycling centre. Can you help? We would love to hear from you! > Contact us

Tetrapak® cartons can’t go in your silver bin but you can still recycle these locally at the Collingham Health Centre car park! > Where can I recycle TetraPak®

SOUTH CLIFTON REFILL STATION
A non-profit community refill station, stocking a wide array of ethically sourced products ranging from personal care to household cleaning. > Visit facebook page

OAKRIDGE ARENA
Oakridge Arena is a small shop between Collingham and Swinderby with a nice cafe and a farm shop that has locally produced items and a small refill station. > Visit website

HARGREAVES DAIRY – LOCAL MILK DELIVERY

GREEN BIN GENERAL WASTE
Green bin waste is taken to the Veolia transfer station (next to the Newark Household Recycling Centre) where they bulk it up on big lorries and drive it up the A1 to Sheffield’s Energy from Waste plant. > Read more about general waste

COMPOSTING AT HOME
Composting your kitchen and garden waste is a great way to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill along with providing nutrient rich compost that you can use on your garden. > Read more about composting at home
